Something interesting to note towards the end of the episode is how Asuka refers to her mother very distantly. She basically says something along the lines of “that person” each time, as if to not call her “mother,” or “mom.” I think it was a really great way to portray what Asuka thinks of her mother, and how she regards her as a person in general. Sadly, I couldn’t come up with a way to portray the subtlety of it in English, apart from the occasional italics. Hopefully you find this as interesting as I did.
